Abstract

The historic study of the Ecclesia of Christ reveals we have now over 1,950 years of doctrines, creeds, and traditions. Many of these traditions and disagreements are deeply divisive. Of these, possibly the most divisive is coming from understanding what happens to the unrepentant in their lifetime. Historically, there have always been three interpretative frameworks trying to answer this question. The first ~450 years reveal the dominate framework being universal restoration. While the eternal hell framework has dominated the last ~1,500 years. Of the three, annihilationism has always held a minority position.

This study that follows forms the foundation of a planned future book with regard to my life story of walking away from the hell doctrine and embracing universal restoration. I will present the top arguments which were most influential in leading me to make this incredible change in my Christian life.

In specific, I will highlight what I believe is a crucially overlooked part in this discussion of the three interpretative frameworks. This being what God’s Kingdom Laws say about the answers to the question. I define this through my following statement:

The law of Christ decrees the salvation, reconciliation, and restoration of all things. God’s kingdom laws govern the seen and unseen realms. It is within the law of sacrificial peace offering, the law of atonement, the overall limitations placed on various punishment laws. It is the law of redemption linked to the Sabbath and Jubilee laws along with the law of second Passover which we find decreed a plan for the “Restoration of All Things.”

Given my personal encounter with Jesus on this topic. My hope is “Father God will write His laws on your heart and mind” as we read in Hebrews 8:10 and 10:16.

Last, my heart’s desire is this will bring about a new direction in the discussion between all three camps of interpretation. It will be something we can truly consider when discussing with one another the fullness of the gospel as revealed through the Law of Christ. My hope is this begins breaking down the divisions we have in the body of Christ and ultimately reordering our understanding of the plan of salvation, reconciliation and restoration and its timelines.
